Another year over and a new one just begun

It’s been a combination of work, new hobbies and to little free time that kept me away from blogging. But I plan to end my year with a post and will make a wish tonight when 2008 becomes 2009 (not a promise) that more post will follow during next year.

2008 started with an internship in Oslo at a digital agency. One thing lead to another and when I graduated from Hyper Island in May I was employed as a project manager. A hectic period followed with a lot of projects. A strong will to always learn more and do better kept me busy and made me work both long and hard. I spend my two summer vacation weeks on a small island without internet and enjoyed food, sun, reading and swimming. Autumn started with me receiving a MacBook for work. I fell in love with this tiny machine and can’t imagine a life with PC again. Oslo finally started to feel like my home and with this feeling came a strong homesickness. I miss family, friends and my dog like crazy. The last months of 2008 I spend playing Halo 3 and L4D, crocheting amigurumi and cooking food while my biggest project went live. Christmas holiday started early this year because I treated myself with another trip to Japan. New Years eve is currently taking place in a tiny hotel room in Hatagaya, but give me another hour and I’ll be clubbing in Shibuya.

This post actually made me think a bit more about 2009. Guess I have to do some thinking about next year and set up some goals to work against. But for tonight I wish nothing but champagne, good food, music, fire crackers and dancing.

Happy New Year!

Smart enough for wisdom teeth

Between playing DS and thinking about going to bed I couldn’t resist finding out how much my blog is worth. Some calculators says $0.00 and some says 3108 SEK. I like to think it’s the later value, because it’s the same sum as it will cost me to remove one wisdom tooth tomorrow. While I’m taking a deep breath I’ll be thinking of my blog. Too bad that blood and some tears wont increase the value… At least not if I waste them at my dentists chair.

Walk the talk

Ever since I got my idea about the day and night toothpaste I can’t stop thinking about how it seems as companies don’t want to interact with their clients. Trying to give away an idea is way harder then getting famous on You Tube.

Why don’t companies encourage costumers and users to contribute with new ideas, tips and their point of view? Sometimes the greatest things come from people outside a company.

What if a company totally opened up for input from others? I guess they would end up with a lot of new products, innovative ways to advertise, meaningful feedback and costumers who feel that they aren’t just buyers but also a part of the company. So the question is – how does your company open up in a good way, and when will it?

2 years of education

Today we summoned all the models we have learned during our time at Hyper Island. It turned out to be more then 50 models about group dynamic, feedback, increased self knowledge, ways to communicate better and a lot more. After working side by side with them for a long time they are really a part of my everyday life and in some way the have changed me as a person.

I’m doing my best to work distance with my projects from work during these last days in school while I also am packing all my belongings to live in Norway fulltime. Right now I’m just doing my best to keep my head over water until it will be full of champagne on graduation day.

I feel fine

I've been to an inspiring day filled with lectures. My favorite lecture was Jonathan Harris who talked about peoples stories and how he enjoyed to collect them. I really liked the how he combined simple thing to make something grand. I recomend to take a closer look at his project We Feel Fine. It's sort of an bank of feelings collected from blogs with the phrases "I feel fine" or "I am feeling" written in them.

I feel amazed over how small simple ideas often are the best. And there I finished my phrase that will publish me on We Feel Fine. Jonathan also turned out to be very nice and fun to talk to. Keep up the good work!

Be there or be square

I'm proud to announce that I'm an employed project manager at Apt since two weeks ago. Guess Norway will be my home for a little bit longer that just my internship period. I'm returning to Hyper Island for a two week long wrap up before ending my education with a big party!

If I made TV's

I've got a picture in my head of the perfect TV. When turned off the screen is all white instead of black. Because I would like my TV to blend in among my other furnitures and not be a "black hole" on the wall.

Yes, off course there is a reason why the screen is black but I think that there must be some way to produce all white TV's. If not, I'm going to use nano technology colour, in that way something can look like it's in a totally different colour then it really is.

If I made shoes

After looking at white sneakers in cotton I realised they are not made to wear. As soon as the smallest amount of dirt stains them you can just put them in your wardrobe next to the other "not clean enough to wear" pairs and buy new ones. Beacuse white sneakers are not meant to be nothing but white.

If I made white sneakers I would make a pair with a white logo or symbol on them. The logo/symbol would be made of "dirt proof" material and you can't see the mark as long as the shoe stays withe and new. The more dirt, stains and soil on the shoe the more the more would the white logo appear. Then you got a pair of shoes that are ment to be worn for a long time until the label are visible.

9 weeks of internship

My internship at Apt is continuing to be fun, challenging and very educating. I really ended up at the right place and it feels like my head are full of new knowledge. I learn new things all the time and I’m starting to ask myself if it’s room for more information. What I first noticed as new project manager at Apt was my lack of knowledge regarding technology but I’m doing my best to increase by asking thousands of questions. I’m proud to announce that I know more about stuff like CMS, backend, W3C and the process of building a website.

I just started a new project were we are going to make an online advertising film. Just when I began to understand project management of websites and other thing online I get thrown into something totally new for me. This is what I love about my internship!

(For those who validate my site just because I was talking about W3C: Yes, I know there are some errors. But if Apple has 10 of them I guess it’s ok with my three. And who knows, I might just end up fixing them myself some day.)
